Arthur Miller Essay Example for Free

Arthur Miller Essay A significant topic in Arthur Millers play All My Sons is the duty a man has for another man. Mill operator focused on that individuals must be considered responsible for their activities to society and they will be considered responsible by the unavoidable equity found known to man: karma. This subject is communicated through activity just as characters all through the whole play; it is unpretentious from the start however gradually turns out to be progressively unmistakable until Joe Keller at long last acknowledges precisely how his activities influenced individuals outside of his family. To start, Kellers character is essential to the subject since he speaks to something contrary to being liable for his activities and being considered responsible to society. Joe Keller appears to be a basic sort of man. His most noteworthy wishes are to acquire the American dream for his significant other and to make an inheritance to give to his child. Be that as it may, he harbors a dull mystery that clarifies how he accomplished those fantasies for his family-he purposely delivered out flawed plane parts during wartime. Up until the hour of the play, Keller didn't accept he did a horrendous thing by delivery those parts out. As he clarifies, when he got back home from prison he resembled a specialist all in all prison thing and, after some time, the kids got it confounded and [he] wound up a detective(29). Or on the other hand, more plainly, he went from being the trouble maker to being the hero. In Kellers mind, he was the hero since he spared his family from being poor and having their notorieties in the drain. He says to his significant other, you needed cash, so I made money(76). To him, he basically did what he needed to do to ensure and deal with his family. By then in his life he couldn't see the 10,000 foot view of things; he was just ready to see one little shape, only one little piece, of what makes up the universe. Moreover, it is obvious that Kellers little bit of the universe, his family, is what is generally critical to him. All through the play he reveals to Chris that all that he has finished with the business , including conveying broke rigging heads, was for Chris: it was an opportunity and I took it for you(70). Keller accepted that he needed to convey those parts with the goal that he would in any case have a business to give to his child. Chris answers what is that, the world-the business?(70). He is inquiring as to whether the entire world is the business. What's more, the appropriate response in Kellers mind is, the length of it deals with his family, yes it is the world. Gradually, however, Keller starts to see exactly what his activities have brought about for others. Take, for instance, when he addresses Ann about her dad, Steve. He discovers that Ann and George never visit Steve in prison and that they dont even keep in touch with him. Keller can't comprehend why the kids would kill their dad and he begs Ann to not make a killer out of him(32). He understands that Steves life was destroyed and his associations with his youngsters, something that Keller gives high an incentive to, are demolished also. It is likewise simple to accept that Keller doesnt need to see Steve executed in such a case that he is, that implies that Keller ought to be as well. Also, if Keller was rebuffed for his activities, that implies there is something greater on the planet than the connection among father and child. The entire difficulty with Steve and Steves youngsters provides Keller some insight that there might be greater things on the planet than familial connections and furthermore that there might be outcomes to unfair activities. At long last, Chris and Larry (after death) work to edify Keller that theres a vast expanse of individuals outside and that [hes] capable to it(84). Chris character alone fills in as a guidepost to this disclosure. He is the exemplification of the possibility of obligation and responsibility to society since he is the individual that goes after something he needs yet pulls back in light of the fact that others will suffer(16). Chris considers different people groups emotions and prosperity before he acts. He figured out how to be so self-less in the war, as he watched his men execute themselves for one another. He depicts it as a sort of duty. Man for man(35-36). He discovered that you can't just post for yourself in this world, however you need to enable others to out also. Furthermore, Larry, whom Keller thought shared his thoughts in transit the world was made (with a forty-foot front), had a decent sense that individuals must consider the benefit of the numerous before they represent the couple of. It is his letter to Ann, in which he states he cannot stand to live anymore(83) on account of what his dad did, that brings everything slamming down around Keller. Similarly Larrys dedication tree came slamming down and permitted all the more light to sparkle into the arbor, his letter sparkled light onto the genuine methods of the universe. Everything that Keller represented, all that he had confidence in wasn't right. He at long last understood that he did a horrible thing that murdered outsiders, however individuals who were fathers, siblings, and children. Fundamentally, he slaughtered the thing he lives for; he murdered family. This disclosure drives home the possibility that equity will unavoidably be brought to the miscreants. Kellers karma returns and makes him not just set everything straight known to mankind again however die for his activities: passing by his own hand. Chris, Ann, and Kate would now be able to push ahead, not impeded by disgrace and blame, and they can live.

When Should You Start Studying for Your AP Exams

When Should You Start Studying for Your AP Exams SAT/ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips So you’re taking a couple AP classes, they’re working out in a good way, and you feel quite great about the majority of the material. The test in May appears to be far off. Do you have to begin studying? The answer is, that depends! Each understudy and each test is extraordinary. Be that as it may, my general counsel is to begin concentrating no later than the midpoint of the school year. (That would be after winter break for the greater part of you.)Why the midpoint of the year? Continue perusing to discover! I’ll likewise talk about how long you should plan to prepare dependent on how the course is going and what score you are focusing on. At that point I’ll present a few procedures for deciding how you should adjust general theoretical survey of the material and committed test prep like taking practice tests. At long last, I’ll make recommendations with respect to when and how you should examine dependent on by and large course subject (math, science, unknown dialect, etc.) Note that in this article I’m going to for the most part expect that you are taking the class for which you are going to take the AP test. For self-study, see my article onstudying for AP tests without taking the class. 3 ReasonsYou Should Start Studying for Your AP Exams by the Midpoint of the Year As far as I can tell, there are three reasons why you should begin reading for you AP tests vigorously by the midpoint of the school year. Reason 1: You’ll Know a Good Amount of Course Material By the center of the school year, you will have canvassed enough material in class that you will have the option to answer a better than average measure of training questions and issues without needing to rip your hair out in dissatisfaction. In the event that you begin taking a gander at AP practice tests in October, you will have just taken in a small amount of the course material, so they will be of constrained use to you. Reason 2: Avoiding the Cram! The midpoint of the year is additionally still early enough that you won’t need to pack for the test. You’ll have a lot of time to acclimate yourself with the test organization and ensure you see the entirety of the course content. A significant peril of standing by past the point where it is possible to prepare is you may find that there’s a fragment of the course material that you truly don’t comprehend or a segment on the test that is extremely unfamiliar to you, so in the event that you start in the year, you can be certain you’ll have sufficient opportunity to completely get ready. The main packing you ought to do is these tasty treats into your mouth. Reason 3: Pacing Yourself Another favorable position to beginning early is that you won’t fundamentally need to go through a long stretch of time seven days concentrating to hit your objective measure of study-hours, which will help you later in the semester when things are occupied and you will most likely be unable to give whole ends of the week to packing for an AP test. On the off chance that you’re in an especially content-substantial course, you ought to most likely survey class material all through the primary semester with the goal that it remains new. All in all, however, the midpoint of the year will give you sufficient opportunity to look over the material, recognize any holes in your insight, and plan for the test position. Imagine a scenario where You’re in a Semester-Long Course. A few schools offer semester-long AP courses. On the off chance that you’re in one of these, should you despite everything begin learning at the midpoint of the year? This relies upon when you take the class. On the off chance that you take the class during the first semester, keep the midpoint of the year as your prep start point. You'll fundamentally begin preparing when the class is finished. This is for two reasons: first, you will know all the material before you begin reading for the test, so you can take practice tests and compose expositions without being worried that there might be inquiries concerning material you haven’t concentrated at this point. Furthermore, preparing during the time half of the yearwill assist you with recalling the material. Keeping it new in your brain will be a lot simpler than attempting to play get up to speed in the couple of weeks paving the way to the test. On the off chance that it’s a second-semester just AP course, you’re in less threat of overlooking the material, however you additionally have less time to examine. This is fine. Semester long APs don’t spread as much material as entire year ones, so just insofar as you are doing admirably in the class, you can stand to hold up until four to about a month and a half before the test to place your concentrating in full rigging. All things considered, if there are any ideas you aren’t clear about or that appear to be fluffy, attempt to learn them when you understand there’s an issue. This will spare you a great deal of despair during the examining procedure. Not this sort of fluffy. How long Should I Study for My AP Exam? There is no enchantment number of hours you have to read for an AP test to get a specific score. There are, however, two principle factors that together should give you a harsh thought of how long you should plan to consider. Factor 1: How You’re Doing in the Course In the event that you’re acing tests and the material snaps with you at an A+ level, you can likely pull off reading around 15 hours for the test and leaving with a 5 taken care of (Remember, you’re spreading the prep out over a semester, so 15 hours all out would just be about 90 minutes per week for ten weeks). Assuming, however, you’re scratching by with a C+ or B-(which is entirely good these courses are hard!) you may well need to commit 40+ hours to get a similar score. (A special reward is that the entirety of that additional considering will most likely raise your course grade.) Factor 2: How Well You Want to Score Clearly the higher you need to score, the more you have to examine comparative with how you are getting along in the course. In the event that you’re focusing on a 3 and you’ve got a B, you may well just need to read for 15 hours to pull it off. On the off chance that you need a 5, that might be increasingly similar to 35 hours. See my helpful table underneath, where you can cross-reference the letter grade you have with the score you need on the AP test and without a doubt the base hours you should plan to consider. (I expected nobody is focusing on an evaluation lower than a 3, the general least acknowledged for school credit.) The all the more requesting the course is generally, and the more substance it covers, the more you should plan to consider. At last, no one but you can genuinely measure how much time you have to spend planning to feel great with your odds of getting your objective score. Mimimum Study Time Based on Letter Grade and Target Score 5 4 3 A 15+ 10+ 10+ B 25+ 20+ 15+ C 40+ 30+ 20+ D 60+ 45+ 30+ F 80+ 60+ 40+ As should be obvious, how long you have to consider relies upon a great deal of things-how well you're doing in class, how much material there is, and your ability level in the given segments of the test. On the off chance that you’re extraordinary at coordinated articles, you won’t need to invest as much energy reading for AP Lit and Comp as somebody who battles with them. In general,it’s better to spread your prep out after some time two or three months in any event instead of doing monstrous packing. Packing will worry you, particularly in May when you are presumably likewise attempting to wrap up ventures and study for tests in different classes. When you have a thought of how long you should read for the test, by what means would it be a good idea for you to go through those hours? Peruse on for my proposals on adjusting general audit of the course material with committed test prep. Study gradual like a snail. State that multiple times quick. General Review versus Devoted Exam Prep: How Much of Each? When you decide how much time you’re going to spend considering, you have to choose how you’re going to invest that energy. There are, as a rule, two sorts of reading you can accomplish for the AP. You can survey the material the course depends on, or you can get ready explicitly for the test by taking practice questions, composing practice papers, etc. Clearly, to excel on the test, you have to have a decent handle on the material. However, understanding the material isn't in every case enough to expert the test. Numerous AP tests have partitions that test unique aptitudes, similar to the DBQ on the history tests, so it’s great to prepare for the genuine arrangement of the test also. Understanding the material resembles the establishment, and excelling on the test resembles building a solid house on that establishment. So in what manner would it be a good idea for you to part your test planning time? What would it be advisable for you to concentrate on? All in all, I would concentrate more on investigating the material when you first beginning examining, particularly on the off chance that you choose to do any concentrating during the main semester. Before you know a conventional measure of material, taking practice tests and so on will simply be disappointing, in light of the fact that there will be a great deal of inquiries you have no clue about how to reply. As you pass the midpoint of the class, you can begin to acquaint yourself with the test group. Commonality with the configuration will turn out to be progressively basic over the long haul. So the closer you get to the day of the test, the more the equalization will move from material audit to test prep. That way you’ll know you’ve got a solid establishment before you begin attempting to manufacture a house on it! You may likewise (courteously!) ask your educator what you will do in the course to prepare for the AP explicitly. On the off chance that you will be doing a great deal of devoted test prep practices during class time, you should not have to do very as much outside. On the off chance that you are simply attempting to race fast through the material so you aren’t as yet learning on WWI material on test day, you’ll realize it will be basically dependent upon you to acclimate yourself with the test position. Keep in mind, paying little heed to what you realize in the study hall, it will be you stepping through that test on examination day, so you are at last liable for your own prep. N

Argumentive Essay Essay

I accept that a kid should finish a parent’s life. Then again I don’t accept that it is scripturally directly for gay couples to have the option to embrace a youngster and bring up that kid. In the good book God made man and lady for a reason. This reason for existing was to have the option to duplicate the populace and for one man to be infatuated and with one lady. I don't accept that in a homosexuality house hold that a youngster would be raised appropriately and ordinarily like most kids can be raised. I feel placing kids in that condition is recommending that homosexuality is alright and it really isn’t when as far as the holy book. This transgression was so critical to God that he straightforwardly moved toward the subject in the holy book saying it is a wrongdoing and that a man ought to be with a lady and a lady ought to be with a man. Being an enormous supporter of the Christian confidence since I am separated of that confidence, I accept that being a gay is shocking and really disturbs God. Then again I am mindful that few out of every odd hetero home on the planet is a steady and an appropriate home to bring a youngster up in. In numerous homes in this world there are kids that are beaten, assaulted, hungry, and furthermore ineffectively bolstered. In those terms and in those cases I do accept that it might be worthy for a youngster that are in those conditions to be put in a home where they will be cherished and upheld and be adored. I do likewise concur that a gay couple is entirely equipped for adoring and giving and dealing with a kid. On the off chance that the youngster is being beaten and disliked and assaulted and other extraordinary conditions I would be steady and feel that it was alright for a kid to be embraced into a gay home. I additionally feel that it is hard for the kids that are being embraced to have the option to acknowledge what is happening and having the option to comprehend what is characteristic and untouchable. Same-sex couples bringing up youngsters must stand prepared to demonstrate to the world they are a family, only one that happens to have two moms or two dads. For instance I might want to share this one gay couple’s tory. This consistent weight of evidence is particularly hard for families like the Muzingos, who live in an express that doesn’t permit them to build up lawful connections to one another. Michelle Muzingo was in the conveyance room when her better half, Katrina, brought forth every one of their three youngsters, who are presently 7, 4 and 1. She cut their umbilical strings and was the first to hold the youngsters, who call her â€Å"mommy. † Yet in light of the fact that they live in Ohio, an express that doesn't permit gay couples to embrace, she can't make that title official. We are continually checking the hover around us to perceive what we have to set up to ensure ourselves,† said Katrina, 37. A report discharged not long ago shows exactly how defenseless these couples and their youngsters are, both legitimately and monetarily. All things considered, 30 states don't have laws that permit same-sex guardians to either embrace, while six states limit them or force through and through bans. Indeed, even families who live in states that perceive their connections can run into inconvenience on the off chance that they travel or move. What's more, if something somehow happened to happen to a parent who couldn't embrace or in any case set up legitimate ties, the kid may be denied sure government benefits something that offspring of most hetero guardians get naturally. While having a youngster ordinarily, with one man getting one lady that is hitched pregnant, it tends to be an incredibly rough street. Additionally I accept that only one out of every odd home is great and there are numerous issues inside every family. Be that as it may, I simply feel that an excessive number of complexities can emerge out of gay couples embracing a kid.

The Information Bibliography

The Information BibliographyAt a very basic level, the annotated bibliography format is a collection of citations and other related information that make up the bibliography of a book. The term 'annotated' itself implies some form of annotation and, more specifically, that the references are included in alphabetical order by author. Annotations are usually combined with data, like dates or titles, but there are instances where the reference is merely an entry in the bibliography. The annotated bibliography format is used in some form by scholars and students of all fields. The broadest use of this format is in academic settings, where it serves as a tool for reference and research. In classrooms, the annotated bibliography is used to organize reading lists, and for students to use when working through a book or document. In scholarly articles, the annotations indicate specific resources used in the text, while in books the annotations are used to list the names of important authoritie s, as well as the information contained in the text. It also aids in keeping abreast of recent scholarly research on particular books, especially if they are particularly difficult or time-consuming to research. The term annotated bibliography MLA is actually a bit of a misnomer. Although each page in the bibliography is linked to its corresponding page in the book, there is no place for an article name in this format. However, the ABM format is most commonly used for those books that contain not just a bibliography but also a list of sources, indexes, bibliographies, footnotes, and references to other works. ABM is also the traditional term used in some disciplines and was used for most of the 1800s. Bibliography MLA is more widely used, although there are still a number of people who prefer the ABM format. The original ABM format included a number of conventions that were intended to make the format easier to use and maintain, but were never used by most scholars or students. These include making sure that the last citation is included at the beginning of the text, and that citations from other sources are arranged in chronological order according to the author's chronological order of publication. These rules were probably established to make the process of indexing easier, but were ultimately changed to incorporate a somewhat stricter definition of what constituted an original reference.Other than the regular ABM format, there are two other types of annotated bibliography. There is the standard format, which is intended to be the reference guide of any book or document. While this includes a number of standard features such as including the first and last citations, it is less defined in the cases of chronology, and there are no conventionally arranged indexes. One of the least used formats of the ABM format is called single-author bibliography, which is the format used by many major publishers and is designed for general use.For the most part, the annotated bibliography MLA has remained unchanged since the original ABM format. The format is still primarily designed for reference and research, but there are exceptions to this rule. Some books, such as those of works of fiction, or those that are published in small numbers, have been edited to remove any superfluous information, or even to include an indexed bibliography, allowing the reader to find the information without the hassle of searching for it.The format has not changed much since the original ABM, but the information it contains has changed quite a bit. While most researchers still use the ABM format, there are other formats that have been developed over the years to accommodate the changing needs of bibliographic research.

A large number of people disagree with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A large number of people also back the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Personal Note On Philosophy Of Life - 1527 Words

Philosophy of Life My sentiment of the meaning of life and what is good in my life has changed dramatically over the past five years. Living through some major tragedies has given me a greater appreciation for my relationships with my family and friends. Having close friends, a loving family, and good relationships with my coworkers are of highest importance in my life, along with my faith. A clean house and an accumulation of â€Å"things† is no longer on my list of priorities. I hope to be remembered for my empathy, kindness, faith in God, and persistence of pursuing my educational and professional goals, no matter what hardships that I have faced or will encounter. These attributes take precedence in my life. Dealing with my husband s illness for two and a half years, and then finally his death, has been a difficult and trying time for our family, legally, physically and emotionally. During that time, I made a decision to return to school [to protect and enhance my career and to direct my focus in other directions]. I managed to visit my husband almost every day, spent time with my aging parents, worked full time and was available to support and be supported by our children. Battle of Patay in the Hundred Years War

Battle of Patay in the Hundred Years' War Battle of Patay - Conflict Date: The Battle of Patay was fought June 18, 1429, and was part of the Hundred Years War (1337–1453). Armies Commanders: English Sir John FastolfJohn Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury5,000 men French La HireJean Poton de XaintraillesJoan of Arc1,500 men Battle of Patay - Background: Following the English defeat at Orleans and other reverses along the Loire Valley in 1429, Sir John Fastolf advanced into the area with a relief force from Paris. Joining with John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, the column moved to relieve the English garrison at Beaugency. On June 17, Fastolf and Shrewsbury encountered a French force northeast of the town. Realizing that its garrison had fallen, the two commanders elected to fall back to Meung-sur-Loire as the French were not willing to give battle. Arriving there, they attempted to retake the bridge guardhouse which had fallen to French forces a few days earlier. Battle of Patay - the English Retreat: Unsuccessful, they soon learned that the French were moving from Beaugency to besiege Meung-sur-Loire. Outnumbered and outgunned by Joan of Arcs approaching army, Fastolf and Shrewsbury decided to abandon the town and retreat north towards Janville. Marching out, they moved up the Old Roman Road before pausing near Patay to rest. Leading the rear guard, Shrewsbury placed his archers and other troops in a covered position near an intersection. Learning of the English retreat, the French commanders debated what action to pursue. The discussion was ended by Joan who advocated for a swift pursuit. Sending forward a mounted force under the leadership of La Hire and Jean Poton de Xaintrailles, Joan followed with the main army. Ranging ahead, French patrols initially failed to locate Fastolfs column. While the vanguard paused at St. Sigmund, approximately 3.75 miles from Patay, the French scouts finally had success. Unaware of their proximity to Shrewsburys position, they flushed a stag from along the road. Racing north it bounded through the English position. Battle of Patay - the French Attack: Spotting the deer, the English archers sent up a hunting cry which gave away their location. Learning of this, La Hire and Xaintrailles raced ahead with 1,500 men. Rushing to prepare for battle, the English archers, armed with the deadly longbow, began their standard tactic of placing pointed stakes in front of their position for protection. As Shrewsburys line formed near the intersection, Fastolf deployed his infantry along a ridge to the rear. Though they moved quickly, the English archers were not fully prepared when the French appeared around 2:00 PM. Riding over a ridge south of the English lines, La Hire and Xaintrailles did not pause, but instead immediately deployed and charged forward. Slamming into Shrewsburys position, they quickly outflanked and overran the English. Watching in horror from the ridge, Fastolf attempted to recall the vanguard of his column but to no avail. Lacking sufficient forces to deal with the French, he began retreating up the road as La Hire and Xaintrailles horsemen cut down or captured the remnants of Shrewsburys men. Battle of Patay - Aftermath: The final battle of Joan of Arcs decisive Loire Campaign, Patay cost the English around 2,500 casualties while the French sustained approximately 100. Having defeated the English at Patay and concluded a highly successful campaign, the French began to turn the tide of the Hundred Years War. The defeat inflicted significant losses upon the English longbow corps as well as was one of the first times a massed French cavalry charge had overcome the skilled archers. How planet of the apes is an anti-war film

How planet of the apes is an anti-war film Some things aren't always what they seem, sometimes there more sometimes there less. In many cases there is a hidden meaning or clues that suggest theirs more than meets the eye. One particular film that caught my attention is planet of the apes the story of slavery, and history repeating itself. Its cryptic value is so hard to see I had to watch it three times to find it. When I finally found it I wondered how I missed it the two times earlier. The movie itself is intensely interesting and entertaining. But I have learned to look past the prevalent and see the unseen. Past all the make-up and special effects theirs significance to the fact that apes have taken mans place.Man has always had an obsession with death and war. Its nothing we can explain or rationalize. Man will always slay one another and destroy everything that could ever matter.English: Total world nuclear power capacity, in GW...In planet of the apes man destroys man leaving only apes to take their place. We blew each other up until there was almost nothing left we could blow up. We lead ourselves to our own destruction. Without cause or reason we will attack our brother, our friend, our family. There is a point where man could kill his own blood for a futile motive like land, money, drugs, and power or privilege. When you really think about it it's so ludicrous we could think of it as laughable. In fact we have even put it in comedies like half-baked, lion king, and a bugs life. We think of these as simple and innocent movies with a safe moral. A man will kill a man for something as small as a bag with a plant in it or seat in a castle. Is a crown worth...

Compare or contrast the way something is done in the United States and Essay

Compare or contrast the way something is done in the United States and the way it is done in another country like ( DUBAI , UNITED ARAB EMIRATES ) - Essay Example They will meet to rally their leaders in the United States and even have meals with them in restaurants when they campaign. In the United Arab Emirates these types of relationships would not happen. In the UAE, power and wealth are also important together. It is understood that there can be distance between wealthy business people and leaders. Because of this the people in the UAE would find it to be acceptable that leaders have money. In the United States, the people having a close relationship with their leaders makes them want to have wealth also. The people often ask for wealth to be handed out for different needs with much activity when it does not happen. For example, if people are having a hard time with their profit they will start to demand money to be redistributed. This is when they protest and when they become more active in getting what they want. The United States leaders have little choice but to try to meet these demands or face consequences of protesting people. In the United Arab Emirates, the people are less likely to be loud against their leaders about economy issues. It is again this power distance that is most noticeable. With high power distance, there are some common ideas. In the UAE, because people are not close to their leaders they will have quiet and private conversations about their unhappiness. They will speak with family and relatives for this or workplace partners. It is only when situations get really out of control and unfair that people in the UAE would make loud appeals to their leaders. The United States is the same way, in comparison. People often have spokespersons in the USA and let them do their protesting for them. Other discussions happen in private areas with close friends and company. This is when people in communities begin making signs and getting together to make sure change happens they way they want it. So there is a form of collectivism that happens with high power distance

Online Personality Tests Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Online Personality Tests - Essay Example I can tell that the test was valid because occasionally, it asked for a response to a question and later again asked for a response to a statement negating the prior question. For example, if a respondent said â€Å"very accurate† in response to the statement â€Å"I easily get upset†, he/she should say â€Å"very inaccurate† to the next statement â€Å"I am not easily frustrated†. After the test, the next screen explained my personality using adjectives constituting one to two words like â€Å"fun-loving and broad-minded† etc. I think the descriptions offered by test results were the true reflection of my personality. Such online tests give a person a clear insight into his/her personality so that he/she can know what can he/she change about his/her behavior to convert into a better person. Such online tests can be occasionally dangerous if an individual starts believing them blindly. It was a long test based on 45 general and about 20 particular questions that pertained to investigating the demographics of an individual. As the name implies, the test was designed to measure five key personality traits namely, â€Å"openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.† I would criticize the test for a number of reasons. First, it was too taxing to answer about 70 questions in order to get a computer assessment of my personality. Often, the statements were too long and cumbersome. Secondly, the test had some unnecessary details about myself. The items constituting the test were fundamentally assessing my behavior. I can tell this from the fact that the five personality traits I have mentioned before are the most underlying components of an individual’s behavior. The screen that popped up once I submitted the completed test showed a grading for my personality on the scale of the five personality traits as named befor e. The grading was

Death Penalties in the UK Essay Example for Free

Death Penalties in the UK Essay In PSHE we were studying death penalties in the world. All of the students had different opinions on why we should have or why we shouldn’t have it like it is now in the UK. In this case my opinion is to keep it how it is and not punish criminals with death penalties. I would like to keep the law with no death penalties in the UK. This is because even though the do horrible crimes to get a death penalty, they are still human and there are a lot of things that could go wrong. You could be taking an innocent person who done nothing wrong and giving the death penalty and realizing your mistake after they’re dead. Even if they are guilty there could be so much pain when they are getting injected or shot or any other ways to kill them. Just because they’re murderers, they are still human. Also, what if they did get their death penalty but they didn’t die until an hour after or several minutes, just imagine how much pain that person would be, how their family would feel, how you would feel if you were in that same position. A woman from the UK was sent to America to get a death penalty for something she might not have done and we’re only depending on the evidence of two people. On May 4th 1990 in Florida a man named Jesse Joseph Tafero was executed on the electrocution chair. During the execution, six-inch flames erupted from Taferos head, and three jolts of power were required to stop his breathing. State officials claimed that the botched execution was caused by inadvertent human error the inappropriate substitution of a synthetic sponge for a natural sponge that had been used in previous executions. They attempted to support this theory by sticking a part of a synthetic sponge into a common household toaster and observing that it smoldered and caught fire. Just ask yourself the question: would you liked to be treated this way? This also has a bad picture on Britain. Keep the old saying into your head: treat other people the way YOU would like to be treated. This is my opinion and I think you should take this on mind because we would like to keep a nice image on Britain and not damage it more than it already is. Please don’t put the death penalty in Britain. A lot of people would agree with me.

Leiningen Versus The Ants Essay -- English Literature Essays

Leiningen Versus The Ants Would you risk your own life and the lives of another 400 people just so you might have a chance at saving a coffee plantation? Well that’s what Leiningen did in the short story â€Å"Leiningen Versus the Ants†. And by doing so he has proved himself to be an over confident, persuasive, and sexist man. And is not a person to be admired. In this story Leiningen has shown himself as an extremely over confident person. From the time he was aware of the impending danger of the ants, to when he was almost willing to give it all up he still believed that he could conquer them. This is show on the very first page of the story where Leiningen says â€Å"Decent of you, paddling all this way just to give me the tip. But you’re pulling my leg of course when you say I must do a bunk. Why, even a herd of saurians couldn’t drive me from this plantation of mine.† A second sign of his over confidence is when he says â€Å"And don’t think I’m the kind of fathead who tries to fend lightning off with my fists, either. I use my intelligence, old man. With me, the brain isn’t a second blind gut; I know what it’s there for. When I began this model farm and plantation three years ago, I took into account all that could conceivably happen to it. And now I’m ready for anything and everything---including your ants.† These two statements show him as thinking he has planned for the worst and knows all that lies ahead of him but in truth, he knows the least of what will actually happen...

This program does hold academic credit based on clinical and general studies preparing these students to be able to function as â€Å"technical† bedside nurses. At the end of the ADN program students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN (Creasia & Reid, 2011). The Bachelors of Science program is four years in length and actually regarded by the American Nurse association as the original entry level requirement to becoming a Registered Nurse (Smith, 2009). This program originated in 1909. The BSN program is based on evidence based practice, Community nursing, and prepares these nurses for leadership roles whereas the ADN programs do not function to prepare nurses in leadership roles (Creasia & Reid, 2011). This is due to the program providing education, described by Creasia & Reid, 2011, also on â€Å"Information management, health care policy and finance, communication/collaboration, clinical Prevention/population health and professional values.† (p. 25). At the end of the program these Nurses are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN. With differences in the level of education among RN’s this brings up the controversial topic of: Do the difference in educational levels of BSN prepared nurse and ADN nurse make the more educated BSN more prepared for the challenges of nursing today? There is much more research needed on this topic. Online Journals such as Policy Politics Nursing Practice Ellenbecker, 2011 state, â€Å"Today’s environment of expanding knowledge, the call for interdisciplinary healthcare delivery teams, and evidence of the relationship between nurse education and improved patient outcomes strongly indicate the need for nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level.† (115-125). Studies such as Aiken (2003) depict negative outcomes such as failure to rescue and mortality were nineteen percent lower in hospitals post-surgical patients where sixty percent of the nurses had baccalaureate degrees. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing 2003 provide an entire fact sheet depicting h ow BSN nurses may be more prepared than diploma or ADN to meet the demands of nursing today. They state this is due to the broader span of course work provided in the BSN program. The BSN nurse learns what the diploma and ADN nurse learn but receive a more â€Å"in depth† experience thus allowing them enhanced â€Å"professional development, a greater understating of cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting patients and influencing health care delivery.† (AACN 2003). Nurses holding a BSN education could indeed be more able to provide the approach of looking at the patient as a whole, as well as enhanced critical thinking skills. (AACN 2003). One clinical example that depicts the difference in patient care situation describing how nursing care or approaches to decision-making may differ based upon the educational preparation of the nurse BSN versus a diploma or ADN degree. The issue of â€Å"may† provide different approaches to decision making is appropriate. There are studies that support that BSN prepared nurses are better prepared and studies that suggest that there is no significant difference in care delivered by BSN compared to the care delivered ADN and Diploma nurses. When faced with the evidence that BSN prepared nurses are taught a higher level of education and to utilize evidence based practice (AACN 2003) (Creasia & Reid, 2011). The BSN prepared nurse may be better prepared to think more critically and research why they do a task and not just do the task blindly. For instance evidence-based practice provides hospitals with ways to decrease CAUTI from occurring (AJIC 2011). This is â€Å"Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI). According to AJIC 2011, â€Å"CAUTI are â€Å"common, morbid, and costly†. â€Å"Nearly 25% of hospitalized patients are catheterized yearly, and 10% develop urinary tract infections. Evidence based guidelines exist for indwelling urinary catheter management but are not consistently followed.† (pp. 1-6). Being educated enough to look up what the evidence based practice guidelines on catheters are can significantly increase positive patient outcomes. Furthermore, AJIC 2011 states also that when nurses where â€Å"re-educated† on a â€Å"basic skill† and† infusing best evidence into current practice were important to raise awareness of simple interventions that positively impacted patient outcomes and infusing best evidence into current practice were important to raise awareness of simple interventions that positively impacted patient outcomes.† (pp. 1-6). Nurses who are more educated on reasons behind evidence based practice understand the importance of implementing it into current nursing practice. So it could be said that a BSN prepared nurse is more likely to utilize the practice guidelines that are evidence based. This provides an example how a BSN nurse could be more likely to make a different judgment call than a diploma or and nurse and take initiative to ask the MD for an order to support an evidence-based decision. To summarize there three pathways to becoming a Registered Nurse: Diploma, ADN, and BSN programs. Each has unique qualities. The program that offers a more â€Å"in-depth† education is the BSN program. All programs lead to the same end point of allowing the student to the NCLEX-RN. There are varying viewpoints on whether or not a BSN versus ADN nurse is better educationally prepared for the nursing workforce today. References American Association of Colleges of Nursing. (2013). Learn How to Say I Love You in Japanese

One of the most popular phrases in any language is probably I love you. There are many ways to say, I love you, in Japanese, but the expression has slightly different cultural meanings than it does in Western nations like the U.S.   In Kansai-ben, a regional dialect spoken in south-central Japan, the phrase suki  yanen is used for I love you. This colloquial phrase has become so popular that its even used as the name of an instant noodle soup. Saying I Love You In Japanese, the word love is ai, which is written like this: æ„›. The verb to love is aisuru (愛㠁™ã‚‹). A literal translation of the phrase I love you in Japanese would be aishite imasu. Written out, it would look like this: 愛㠁â€"㠁 ¦Ã£ â€žÃ£ ¾Ã£ â„¢. In conversation, youre more likely to use the gender-neutral word aishiteru (愛㠁â€"㠁 ¦Ã£â€šâ€¹). If you wanted to express your affection for a man, you would say, aishiteru yo (愛㠁â€"㠁 ¦Ã£â€šâ€¹Ã£â€šË†). If you wanted to say the same thing to a woman, youd say, aishiteru wa (愛㠁â€"㠁 ¦Ã£â€šâ€¹Ã£â€š ). Yo and wa at the end of a sentence are sentence-ending particles.   Love Versus Like However, the Japanese dont say, I love you, as often as people in the West do, mainly because of cultural differences. Instead, love is expressed by manners or gestures. When the Japanese do put their feelings into words, theyre more likely to use the phrase suki desu (Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£ §Ã£ â„¢), which literally means to like. The gender-neutral phrase suki da (Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£   ), the masculine suki dayo (Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£   Ã£â€šË†), or feminine suki yo (Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£â€šË†) are more colloquial expressions.  If you like somebody or something very much, the word dai (literally, big) can be added as the prefix, and you can say daisuki  desu (Ã¥ ¤ §Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£ §Ã£ â„¢). Variations on I Love You in Japanese There are many variations on this phrase, including regional dialects or hogen. If you were in the south-central part of Japan surrounding the city of Osaka, for example, youd probably be speaking in Kansai-ben, the regional dialect. In Kansai-ben, you would use the phrase suki yanen (written as Ã¥ ¥ ½Ã£ Ã£â€šâ€žÃ£ Ã£â€šâ€œ) to say, I love you, in Japanese. This colloquial phrase has become so popular in Japan that its even used as the name of an instant noodle soup. Another word to describe love is koi (æ â€¹). The primary difference between using the word koi instead of ai is that the former is typically used to express romantic love for one person, while the latter is a more general form of love. However, the differences can be subtle, and there are many more ways to say I love you in Japanese if you want to be particularly eloquent.
